Home Solar Panel Systems

Home solar panel systems offer you the ability to generate your own renewable power for a fraction of the cost of electricity generated from other sources. In using home solar panel systems that are manufactured in the state of Washington, you can increase the incentives paid by the utility companies.

Back in 2005, Washington passed Senate Bill 5101, which established incentives for producing electricity using renewable sources. Individuals, local governments, and local businesses were all encouraged to participate. This incentive provides the following payments to the producer of the electricity from a home solar panel system or a solar panel system for a business or government building:

  • Base rate is 15 cents per kilowatt–hour
  • If the solar panels are manufactured in the state of Washington, you can increase the base rate by a factor of 2.4 x .15 = $0.36 per kilowatt–hour
  • If the inverter is manufactured in the state of Washington, you can increase the base rate by a factor of 1.2 x .15 = $0.18 per kilowatt–hour
  • The maximum kilowatt–per hour incentive equals $0.54 with a annual maximum of $5,000
  • This incentive lasts until June 30, 2020
