Wind Power Site Considerations
Choosing the best available site is the key to a successful wind power installation. NW Wind & Solar will consult wind maps and review the physical site for suitability of installation.
Recommended site characteristics:
- 20 feet above obstructions
- 250 feet away from obstructions in all directions
- Average annual wind speed of at least 10 mph
- Best results will be achieved with wind speed average at or above 12 mph
- Property size is at least 0.5 acre
- Local zoning ordinances allow structures at least 35 ft high
